WCKG (105.9) is in turmoil with the loss of Stern at years end and now the quitting of Kevin Matthews. Jeff "Spaceball" Schwarz runs WCKG and Z-Rod is the Infinity market manager, per Robert Feder. Could North possibly be manuvering for the morning job on WCKG or now the midday slot that Matthews has vacated? North is definatley tight with Schwarz and Z-Rod loves to throw money at "Mr. Park Ridge, Chicago streets self made man." That would be an appropriate forum for hot dog boy to spout his political views, and interview all of his "big time" Chicago friends. Maybe this is all a pipe dream for me and the elimination of the cancer that is the Mike North morning zoo.

It would be a smart move by WCKG if they want to go after the 60+ male demographic...

Good Christ, he just played a clip from the Johnny Carson show! Not just 60+ demo, but 60+ demo living in the past!

So Matthews makes 1/3 the money that Papi does and brings in top 5 male demos?

They should have fired B&B and moved Kev to middays.

Not only that, they wanted to cut Matthews pay by a third. Infinity is starting to cut the stupid pay packages and the score boors better start worrying.

It would sure cut down on complaints about North, since WCKG's blowtorch is a burnt out match compared to WSCR's. It would be a great service to the part of Illinois outside Cook County and all those other states that have to endure accidentally tuning in on the Train Wreck when looking for a traffic report. "Mikes Guys" and 99% of the regular WSCR advertizers can't possibly think they have customers driving in from West DesMoines, West Allis or even West Dundee.

Now they're starting to run ads for radar detectors that are banned in six states. Between that and the lawyer that specializes in overturning breathalyzers I don't think they're too popular with the police...they're losing .1 right there...

When I originally heard about Howard going to Sirius I thought Mike North would go to WCKG. But he won't when he has guaranteed millions and the pay cuts going on in the radio industry. Benefits and pay are being cut by all stations except for people like Stern who are consistent with good ratings, especially in key demos in major markets. The only stations with consistent ratings in Chi are 'GN and 107.5, and those are built in audiences. Those stations could maintain ratings if monkeys were the DJ's. Terry will start crying like a baby. Bye Terry, go to KC we won't miss your lack of insight. Mariotti #1.

I have no doubt that North wanted to change his format to general topics in order to make himself more marketable for his next contract. I think he would jump at a chance to be on a station like WCKG. While he is friends with Scwartz and Dahl, I don't think he will be given the opportunity.
